WOYDW ??

Morning all..............Its freezing down here in Gosport today I'm sure its the same all over the UK, my desk was ice cold when I came down this morning and I have had to put a throw over me leather mastermind chair that I sit in to craft as it was so cold it sent a shiver up my spine, unfortunately we don't have the luxury of central heating here, we were going to put it in when we bought the place 5 years ago but didn't get round to it and as we are moving next year (coz they are knocking our place down to redevelop that's another story !!) it seemed silly to do any extra work to it, so hopefully this time next year we will be tucked up in our new house with (I hope) heating.
Still there is an upside to not having central heating Garry pops the hot water bottles our bed half hour before we go up and then we get to snuggle to keep warm ...what could be more romantic !!! lol
Anyway I better stop there and move to whats on my desk today.............well first things first a nice cup of strong black "hot" coffee and quite a bit of mess , but among all the crafty clutter there is the beginnings of my last family Christmas card, its gonna be for Woody who requested a card with Joseph and Mary and as I don't have a stamp with them I decided to use the Sizzix people so that's my next card to finish and I have coloured mistletoe Tilda ready for my just Magnolia challenge card, if I get it finished on time you will see it on the blog later today.
Also on my desk you can see a new MS cupcake stamp and punch set that just came from Simon Say Stamps in the USA which I bought with a voucher that I won on the The Creative card crew challenge so thanks guys for the great prize, I chose a set of Prima corner stamps too which are also on my desk.
There is another new MS boarder punch its the snowflake one I got that a couple of days ago for the bargain price of about £10 from Bunny Zoe crafts she has a sale on.
So do you fancy sharing whats on your desk with Julia and all the girls?? Well then just post your photo on your blog and pop over to Julia's blog Stamping Ground blog and join in all the fun of Whats on your desk Wednesday by leaving a comment on the WOYDW post there so all the girls can come and have a rummage round your desk........... you will soon become hooked and find you can't wait to get over to Julia's place every Wednesday (to meet up with all the crafty girls that take part every week !!)
Thanks for dropping by to check out my little space, have fun................

The snowflake in the top corner is cut and embossed with an Ellison cut n embosslit and then I sanded it with sand paper on the white core blue DCWV textured card.
The snowflake in the middle of the card I cut using the Sizzix snowflake die in chipboard and then I used Tim Holtz broken china distress ink on it and then covered it in 3-D crystal lacquer and sprinkled it in Crystal art glitter.
The snowflake on the base is from DCWV, the Gems are from Kaiser and the snowflake charm and white fibre is from my stash.
There are a lot of snow/ Snowflake challenges out there at the moment and I managed to get a couple of technique challenges onto this card as well............

This week there is an open challenge at Anyone for Anya Challenge so you can make anything with any theme you want (how much fun is that !!?) as long as you use a Greetings farm image on your creation , so I made this little calendar, its for a friend but I like it so much I might not be able to part with it !!! lol,.............. How mean am I !!

Quick and Simple ...Thats the Card Not ME !!! lol

Over at Stamping Vacation Challenge - Pick 3 challenge This week the theme of the choices is keeping the card simple, I like this theme at the moment as I am so behind with my Christmas cards it has given me a chance to catch up a bit on cards for the neighbours and distant acquaintances.
I picked the following choices for this simple card.
Use only one color of card stock and layer color on color
Do not use more than one layer on card
Use pre-cut card bases
But I could have also chosen either of these as they fit my card as well;
Use an embellishment as the main focus of your card
Make a card that has lots of white space.
Anyway Why don't you pop over to Stamping Vacation blog and Pick 3 for yourself !! Its a great challenge

Birthday Boy

This is a scheduled post as we are out for Woody's Birthday dinner tonight, when I asked Woody what he would like for his birthday he told me all he really wanted was a blueberry cake covered with white frosting and a card he could keep up all year round.
So I baked him a blueberry cake covered in lots of frosting and I was going to make him a hanging birthday card so he could hang it on his bedroom wall, but instead I decided to make him an easel post-it holder and he was thrilled with it, but not as thrilled as he was when he opened his presents we got him, I was so glad I didn't believe he only wanted a cake and a card !!! lol bless him
Over at Any one for Anya Challenge blog this week they have an open theme as long as you use a Greeting's farm stamp.

WOYDW "Porridge & Punches"

Morning girls, no your in the right place........... I'm not getting ready for panto you haven't walked in on Goldie locks and the three bears!! I thought I would share my breakfast with you today, I was up early to finish Woody's birthday card (Woody is my youngest son for those of you that don't already know) its his birthday today so we are out for a meal tonight to the eat all you can stuff Chinese which we love!! So I have porridge for breakfast today and then save my appetite for tonight ...........no chocolate on my desk today !!
My desk is a bit of a mess and nothing really exciting to see this week as I am so behind with my Christmas cards although I am getting there, I finished 2 this morning one you can see on the edge of my lap top waiting to be photographed for a challenge.
But I have got something to show you (well its really to show my WOYDW punch addict buddy Kathy!!) I found these new punches I don't know if any of you have seen them yet , they are by a company called Nellies you get 2 in a set and there are 2 sets in different sizes, in each set you get a regular flower punch which you can see in the photo has the solid silver flower on and then the second punch in the set (the one that has the outline of the flower) is an embosser.
So you punch your flower and then you open up the embossing punch pop the punched flower in and press as you would a normal punch and it embosses lines on the petals and shapes the flower and the end result is a flower much the same shape as some of the Prima type flowers you can buy the good thing is you can make flowers to match you projects and in the same designer paper to coordinate, great idea and I'm sure other companies will catch on and there will soon be lots more designs out there.
You do need both sets really to make the flower , there are also 2 other punches in the range a leaf branch which I didn't buy as I have the MS one which I prefer and also a small sort of star/snowflake shape punch that is to be used as the center of the flower but I didn't like it as I like to use a brad for the center to give a bit of dimension, well I hope that punch info was useful to you, to be honest before I started blogging I didn't much care for punches I thought they were old fashion but they have grown on me a lot in the last year, now I'm always punching things !!!
Now if you feel like joining in the fun of WOYDW all you have to do is take a photo of your desk....... just as it is right now, don't go and tidy .....show us all of your creativeness!!!
Then just post your photo on your blog and pop over to Julia's blog Stamping Ground blog and join in all the fun of Whats on your desk Wednesday by leaving a comment on the WOYDW post, you'll soon become hooked and find you can't wait to get over to Julia's place every Wednesday (to meet up with all the girls and to rummage round every ones desk!!)
Thanks for dropping by to check out my crafty space , have a fun day................

WOYDW ? Trees thats what !!

Well this is whats on my desk today, instead of showing you my normal mess I thought I would show you a project that's on my desk instead (that doesn't mean there's no mess coz there is !!!) Anyway I made this card to fit the challenges below.
I used a die that I designed myself a couple of years ago, I cut out the trees with the die on the Big shot machine, first I cut them in chocolate card and then in BasicGrey paper from the figgy collection. Then I cut off the tree trunks from the designer paper trees and discarded little stumps.
The tall triangles I was left with I distressed the edges of with Tim Holtz Tea Dye distress ink and then glued them to the chocolate coloured card trees as you can see on my desk. I used 3 of the trees to make this card and the other 3 are for another project.
Other things I used to make this card;
MS deep edge punch
Sewing machine
Reindeer tree decoration (from Tesco's ...Thanks for the tip Claire)
BG Button and twine
K&co Ancestry.com Gems
Prima Christmas flowers
Doodlebug Designs Glitter brads
K&co tartan paper
Pearl head pins from Tabby crafts
