WOYDW Dry Glue !!

Yes this is whats on my desk the result of my super glue accident, I tried to clean it off with nail polish remover but had no joy so if anyone has any tips for removing Super glue from a craft mat please leave me a comment
Well this is my desk today, a bit tidy I hear you say, but if I hadn't had my accident a few days ago ( read Here if you don't know what I'm on about but feel like a laugh !!lol) then I may not have had to tidy up.
I almost forgot it was Wednesday and time for WOYDW if I had remembered first thing this morning you would have caught me with an almost clear desk but after chatting about Sizzix box dies with a crafty buddy the other day I decided to get my dies out today and maybe have a go at making some boxes up as I bought all these big box dies a while ago and have hardly used them.
But i still I haven't had a chance to play yet today as Woody has been bored again so I have been crafting and sorting out things with him but he has gone off to play with Reid now so I am free to play with my toys !! he he so watch this space for a box of card later
If you feel like sharing your desk , post your photo on your blog and pop over to Julia's blog and leave a link in a comment on on the WOYDW post
Have a fun day

I thought the whole point of super glue was that only super glue remover could remove it....but it's been about a hundred years since I had some. On account of the potential for ending up without fingerprints!!
Those dies look interesting..like the idea of boxes..show show!

Well it could have been worse ... tho not much!! At least you didn't fall in too much stash or superglue it! My best suggestion is a new craft mat, or better still keep that one cos you won't care what happens to it! Very liberating?

You poor thing Susie I did read your post yesterday but didn't comment as just at that moment we had an incident with a bored child, some extras stong magnets and a nose (need I say more) it took me 10 mins to stop laughing at him!! I hope you are feeling better and the glue disappears soon I hate using super glue. I'm looking forward to seeing the boxes!

Lakeland do a product called Stick Stuff remover. I haven't tried it on superglue but it works on all other sticky type stuff.
Id probably get the edge ot me metal ruler and try scraping it like wallpaper! May lift some of the lines on the board though..
Suze...go buy another mat love lol

Hi, well, I am sorry, but you told us to laugh - I wouldn't have laughed (I promise,) if you had been hurt - but your story did make me laugh. Hope you can get sorted and crafting soon!

I have no idea how you will get that superglue off, but I enjoyed reading about your disastrous day!

Thank you for the lovely comment on my blog - I look forward to visiting you again!

Hi Susie. Sorry I've been absent lately. Thanks for your lovely comments and tips on my blog. Much appreciated honey. I hopefully get to repay you now because Super Glue do their own glue remover (for clumsy, messy people such as myself). Its really good and works a treat. You should find it in the Superglue section of WH Smith or B&Q. Its in a very small bottle. If you can't find any, give me a shout and I'll send you some. Hope that helps. Lauren x

I was going to recommend nail polish remover - however I have read your other comments and it seems there are much better things available which I have taken note of.

Hi again - no desk this week as nothing to show and only just got back from a long day in London - fell asleep on the train yet again and disgraced myself by nudging onto a fellow traveller!!!!!
You can pinch the sentiment, I have! The armchair is from Papetrey and they do a set two which has lots more sayings, one of which is this one - do you think they can do me for copyright. Came to my senses and didn't buy it when I thought I could do it myself!

google come up with this one http://www.howtocleanstuff.net/clothing-and-fabrics/stain-removal/how-to-remove-super-glue-from-plastic-and-vinyl/
it might work!
It could have been worse...what if you'd fallen asleep on your work top!?

desk looks very tidy even though you look like you've just about to start or have just finished! (Lyn)

sorry can't help with the glue. I've not seen box dies before - how big a box can you make with them?

Loz (Aus) said...

Yeah, no ideas how to get it off here either besides buying a new one... then again, if it's super-glued onto the mat, no risk of it coming off... so maybe you can just leave it and use it as a reminder of "What not to do with Super Glue and Scissors"...lol! can't wait to see your boxes. x

Hello Susie. Yes I was very late WOYWWing today... yesterday now. One of those days of non stop running around.

I got superglue on my hands the other day. Took days to come off and that was vigourous scrubbing and I'm sure several layers of skin later :) But your mat is still cleaner than my paint and glue encrusted one ;)

Jennie said...

That is one tidy desk! with or without the superglue! Sounds like it was a major day that day! No idea on getting it off, but couldn't you turn it over??lol
Thanks for popping by mine btw

Oh Susie I've had days like that minus the super glue but I would try using sandpaper on your mat to get rid of the glue .. it might erase a couple lines but it should be a smooth surface again, I use it to smooth down my exacto blade cuts and remove any excess glue I have on my mat.
hugs Nikki
glad your feeling better too

Have no ideas on how to get rid of the super sticky stuff. Am still chuckling over your disastrous day! But obviously today is going much better! How are the fingers doing? Bite the bullet and get a new mat. Keep this one for when you're doing really nasty, messy stuff.
Thanks, again, for the laugh.

oh my goodness me - have just read your disastrous day post!! How fortunate that the laptop survived unscathed! As other people have said I would say keep this one for really messy jobs and buy a new one for cutting.

You could try nail varnish remover, this is what you use to remove false nails, so might help

Oh no, you made a boo boo. I wish I could help but I don't even use a mat so any advice you get will help me when I get a mat.

Have a happy and bless day
